Police have identified a 33-year-old man who died after being shot at a comedy club on Virginia Beach Boulevard this morning. Police were called at 1:35 a.m. on a report of a fight at the Virginia House of Comedy, on the 5400 block of Virginia Beach Blvd., said Adam Bernstein, police spokesman.

While officers were on their way, they got a radio update that shots had been fired at the club, Bernstein said.

When they arrived, they didn’t see a shooting victim, he said. Shortly afterward, they got a call from Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital that a gunshot victim had been driven there.

Neal Eugene Williams, also known as Neal Morris, of the 3100 block of Fairview St. in Chesapeake, died during surgery at about 3:30 a.m., a police news release said.

Police have no information about the shooter and ask that anyone with information call the Virginia Beach Crime Solvers Office at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
