Virginia native to own a Cup team
A 10 a.m. press conference is scheduled for Thursday where it will be announced that Rick Clark of New River, Va., has become majority owner of Cup team that plans to field Boris Said in 12-18 races this season. Adding to the announcement is that Clark is African-American and he would join Brad Daugherty as an African-American car owner in the Cup series with Daugherty a co-owner in the car Marcos Ambrose drives.
This isn't Clark's first endeavor with NASCAR. Two years ago, he announced plans to begin running in what is now the Nationwide series and move to Cup but had not been heard from since making the announcement.
Also, a group wants to make you an owner of a Cup team. This is not a new concept and one that has failed before. With this coming during this economic crunch this idea certainly faces an uphill battle to getting beyond the first level. It's MyRaceTeamOnline. The concept is that they want 70,000 people to go to www.myraceteamonline.com; and show interest in paying a subscription fee of up to $165 per person, renewable annually, for a piece of a Cup team. Once the 70,000 number has been reached, the team will move toward forming. Nothing happens until the 70,000 number has been hit. The mailing address for the group is Virginia Beach.

I, too, am building a Cup team
Just send me $19.99 and you'll receive an authentic slip of paper showing you might be part of a theoretical race car team that could supposedly become real someday.
