What would you do in this situation?
Got this in an e-mail from someone in NASCAR:
An avid Tony Stewart fan I'd met in Charlotte wrote this morning to share a pressing dilemma.
Her son, a third grader, won a contest over Christmas break for reading the most books. He will be honored at halftime at a University of South Carolina basketball game. She's delighted. But the awards ceremony is on the afternoon of Feb 15 -- during the Daytona 500.
I wrote her back (joking): "There will be other Christmas Break Reading contests. There will only be one 2009 Daytona 500."
She responds, "Thanks for easing my conscience. He'll go with his dad. It's a good opportunity for male bonding."
So, what would you do?

How Funny
That is so comical, but if that is what the mother is in too, then why not! There are often many times when the father would rather stay home and watch the game or race instead of going to their kids' extracurricular functions, with the exceptions of games or races...lol. I think it will be great. She ought to invite her girlfriends over and do manicures while watching.
My wife is finally relenting
My wife is finally relenting and excusing us from her sister's daughter's (out of town) birthday party this year. It's always on Daytona 500 Sunday, so for the past 6 years that's been my destiny. My father-in-law and I take over the TV in the backroom, but I've got HD at home and they don't.
