You said what about Chris Brown?

Dude, the things famous people are saying about the Chris Brown situation are bananas. (Sorry Rachel Zoe, I meant…cantaloupe!)

Ok, so the next time Kanye West rant about being Jesus' first born son or that his music can make blind people see again I'm going to take it with a grain of salt. Apparently he has a penchant for hyperbole -- why didn't we just chalk his ridiculous hissy fits up to that before? -- that, or he can't hear himself.

"Rihanna is so important to our culture ... to pop music," said West. "I feel like she is the most important artist in music and has the most potential. Her taste level and her age ... she has the potential to be the greatest artist of all time."

Really? Better than Marilyn McCoo, better than JJ Fad, better than Bananarama Kanye? Surely you jest.

T.I. retracted his statement -- "I told him, 'This too shall pass.' We're celebrities, we're entertainers, but we're still human — all of us," he said. "Don't expect us not to make mistakes, because we will." -- to the smarter, more neutral: "I made the mistake of commenting before understanding the situation," the statement read. "I myself am no stranger to media scrutiny. My only intention was to support both Rihanna and Chris during these times. My heart goes out to both of them.

Professional buffoon Soulja Boy -- why do people even give this fool a platform anymore? -- says  "I hope everything works out with my homeboy Chris.. I was just with him the night before the incident talking about his new album and just kickin it. I hope everything works out for the best! Chris hold it down homie, you know how the media gets!!”

I know how we get too. I wish we could get rid of you.

The most dead wrong has proven to be -- surprise -- your boy Terrence Howard/Black Hannibal Lector. Mr. (Baby) Wipe Me Down, whose koo-koo we have chronicled here previously, says, "Chris is a great guy. He'll be all right. And Rihanna knows he loves her."

Dude, what? I guess we shouldn't be surprised that BHL rushes to defend the alleged batterer -- and worse, perpetuate the tragic cycle of making the victim of abuse feel sympathy for the very person that attacked her, yuck -- because he's already admitting to stalking his ex-wife. Paging Dr. Crazy...come get your boy, PLEASE.

Guys, it's like mom used to say: if you don't have anything not stupid to say, please don't say anything at all.

After seeing the picture

I have just seen the picture of Rianna and that being said, though I'm not one for publication of others pain this evidence is overwhelming. The comments of the stars asked about the issue probably would be embarrassed by their statements. So, with that said I'm going to have to agree with you. I still think you are far more effective as a writer of arts and culture then a gossip columnist. I also add that I hope that this brings more support to abuse centers and violence in our society. In fact, once we deal with overt violence then we can move to passive violence which has repercussions that create other forms

I have no dog in the fight but you seem like you do

M,
Opinions are way too prevalent in entertainment bizz. Gossip motivates so much more in reality and then its too late. Be a voice of reason and don't seize on the chickens like another wolf with a PC. Move along; If you are going to do something there are several Woman's abuse shelters around the area who could stand some assistance. It just seems that you are grazing the line between TMZ and being an actual critique of Arts and Culture. I enjoy your work so much more when its the ladder. There is no example or at least not yet to this controversy. peace
