The Discovery Music Series is bringing the one-woman band known as Theresa Andersson to the Attucks Theatre on Friday. If you missed her performance at the Attucks in October, here's your chance for a do-over.
Here are five things to know about her that might help you decide.
1. The Swede moved to New Orleans to be with her boyfriend in the early 1990s. He's gone, but her American-style pop-rock maintains a jazzy vibe and a certain Bayou flair.
2. She takes the stage alone and barefoot, using an array of pedals to bring out sound effects and electronically "loop" individual parts, building full arrangements as she sings and plays guitar.
3. After a member of the "Late Night With Conan O'Brien" staff saw an Andersson gig at a club in Nashville, she was booked for the Feb. 4 "Late Night" and got a huge boost by killing on "Birds Fly Away." That has also been an NPR song of the day.
4. If you missed that show, you can find it on YouTube, or add to the more than 800,000 views of her performing "Na Na Na" in her kitchen - which helped to kick her career into a much higher gear.
5. She's touring to promote her latest album, "Hummingbird, Go!" Reviewing it, Rolling Stone magazine said: "Swedish vocalist blends chockablock rhythms, fairy tale instrumentation and dreamlike melodies for music that recalls a spacier, sultrier Feist." Filter praised her "beautiful, utterly moving voice."
