Chesapeake council backs flag for fallen soldiers

Posted to: Chesapeake News

The Chesapeake City Council tonight supported federal legislation to establish a national flag to honor and remember fallen soldiers.

House of Representatives Bill 1034, introduced by U.S. Rep Randy Forbes of Chesapeake, would designate a flag created by Honor and Remember, Inc., as the symbol for soldiers who died in the line of duty.

“When this flag flies, we are recognizing those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for their nation,” said Chesapeake’s Carl Dozier, whose 30-year-old son, Staff Sgt. Jonathan Kilian Dozier, was killed last year in Iraq.

Also on hand to support the resolution was Chesapeake’s George Lutz, whose son Tony was killed by a sniper in Iraq in 2005.
