Company to hold casting call in Suffolk for James Franco film

SUFFOLK

If you can muster a worn-out, backwoods look or can give your children a barefoot, country appearance, then James Franco might want you for his new short film.

The actor who starred in "Never Been Kissed," "Freaks and Geeks," "Spider-Man" and "Milk" won’t be there, but a Virginia company is holding a casting call on Monday in Suffolk for a movie Franco wrote and will direct.

“There’s not too much information I can release about the project,” said Henry Jaderlund, senior casting director with the company Casting VA. “We’re looking for lots of kids. There’s not a lot of roles available, but I’m looking for people in their early 40s who can play parents. I’m looking for little kids.”

The casting call will be at 5 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn, 100 E. Constance Road.

According to the casting company Web site, www.castingva.com, characters who get a part will be “very run down and poor, adults are ‘tired looking’ and mostly alcoholic ... the kids are the type to get muddy on the farm, barefoot, etc.”

Check the Web site for updates and a list of characters being cast.

The movie will be filmed from April 9 to April 12 in and around Suffolk. For more information, call Jaderlund at (757) 813-4300.
