McAuliffe, Moran file petitions to run for governor

Posted to: News Virginia

RICHMOND

Terry McAuliffe filed petitions Tuesday bearing 17,243 names to qualify for the Democratic primary for governor.

Party rival Brian Moran, after a hasty recheck of his petitions to ensure all properly bore a notary's seal, submitted 16,928 signatures four hours later.

Another Democrat, state Senator Creigh Deeds says he will file in the next week.

They have until April 10 to qualify for the June primary. Both comfortably exceed the minimum of 10,000 signatures statewide with at least 400 from each congressional district.

Moran's campaign abruptly delayed its plan to file its papers at noon after learning of recent state law changes affecting notaries.

Former state Finance Secretary Jody Wagner also filed in the Democratic lieutenant governor primary Tuesday.

Here come an out of state carpet bagger looking to inject the Clinton ideology into the great State of Virginia."

We could use smart politicans like either of the Clintons in the Commonwealth instead of the same old tired ones we keep electing.

Here come an out of state carpet bagger looking to inject the Clinton ideology into the great State of Virginia. Raised in New York, this man has no clue of the heritage and cultures of Virginia. He gets a huge NO VOTE from me!

NO OTHER PEOPLE?

No offense to anyone but there has to be more qualified people actually from VA to run for this office.

The "political world" is wide open now for talented, experienced public servants who aren't bringing "dirty laundry" to races.

I wish he stayed in fund raising; he made a lot of money for himself & the Party there.
