Straighten me out on this folks

I often hear from fans about how the sport lacks personality and how the racing is not great. So, answer me this:

Which would you prefer to have if you could only have one?

Before you answer consider this: For those who say there's no personality in the sport, what about these: Carl Edwards has his backflip and excited personality, Tony Stewart has his gruffness, Kevin Harvick has his outspokenness, Kyle Busch has his air of arrogance, Scott Speed has his, well, folks are still trying to figure him out and so on. You get the point. Yes, there are folks who are corporate pitchmen and can be viewed as boring but if you put any 40 people in a room, you're bound to have differnet personalities.

Just wait before you answer. As for the racing. I was a bit taken back by those who were so down on the racing at California a couple of weeks ago. What I mean is I thought the battle between Kenseth and Gordon within the last 50 or so laps was entertaining. That said, the racing has been described by some as terrible, so maybe there are lower standards there and anytime there are two cars together it's considered good racing there.

So, back to the question. What would you prefer if you could only pick one? Would you take somewhat boring races if the personalities were more colorful or would you take exciting racing by clones? And why?

clones or personalities

give me good racing anytime, the clones will develop their own personalities with good competitive emotions (unlike our clone Nascar reporter)

Boring

How else can one describe it? The drivers are so sanitized and politically correct now and the rules are so strict there is no drama unless some unlucky driver has a "tire" problem.

The demise of NASCAR has started and will continue to gather momentum.

Candy.nascar

I have watched for many, many years and am flat out disgusted with how commercial it is. Boogity...what the heck is that, and a theme song for lets go racing boys....and digger..Come on man. there was a time when I had no problem sitting all day on sunday and watching a race. Now I get sick after about 45 minutes.I am tired of hearing about PC too. I agree that they should be able to say whatever and not be monitored by the Nascar people..I think the best way to compare it now is like going to play baseball or watching little league on tv, its kinda similar but thats it..

it's all about the racing

Having drivers w/personality is nice, but give me side by side racing any day. Not only @ the front, but I want to see door handle to door handle racing all the way through the field. I want all the positions to be contested. I do not like the lead car leaving everyone in the dust, & that's been the case since we got the new car. NASCAR has to figure out a way to not have the leader just drive off & leave the field. I think that's what Lil Schrub was saying when he said, "good night gracie" last week. He knew he was going to drive off into the sunset, & that's what he did. Not because he had the best car, but because he was getting all the clean air, & that equals downforce & that equals drive away. I do think the racing will get better when the crew chiefs figure out that track position is worth more than all 4 tires @ every pit stop. Time for risk versus reward thinking.

NASCAR

When they raced with "real cars" NASCAR was so exciting. People waited to see who won before buying a car just like the one that won the race. Even the coprorate giants cannot afford to buy the cars today. Bring back real cars and real racing, maybe NASCAR will change. Today it's like professional wrestling---PHONY!

boring "sport"

Sorry, but you want to improve NASCAR, get rid of "stock" cars. If regular sports played like NASCAR (everyone is the same), no one would watch.

Personally, I don't see the attraction of watching cars turning left for 500 miles...

nascar needs to lay off

I remember when drivers didn't have to be so PC. I think if nascar would let drivers say what the mean when they are mad at someone we could see more rivalries. nascar does not need to be like the NFL which is lost my interest every year with all the rules like no celebrations. Let the drivers be more old school and California needs to go along with other cookie cutter tracks. Build more short tracks and super speedways.

less talk better racin

I am a man of few words. Let my actions speak for me, So therefore lets have better racin and less promo B/S. I don't care if you can do a back flip while not spillin a drop of beer. If you ain't first on race day it don't matter. More points should be awarded for first so the slackers don't just follow along and get all happy with the top ten. There is only 1 winner, the rest are losers.
