Underperforming Admirals to face Binghamton tonight

Posted to: Admirals Norfolk Sports

Under-manned? Check. Under-achieving? Since they’re mired in last place, sadly that’s a check too. But lack of effort? That was coach Darren Rumble’s stinging charge against his team after Wednesday night’s 5-3 loss to Binghamton. That effort is still an issue 70 games into the season may be the most damning criticism of this group all year.

Tonight is Game 2 of Norfolk’s seven-game homestand. The Admirals will conclude the season with four road contests. Captain Zenon Konopka has points in his previous eight games and 12 of his past 14 (3 goals, 13 assists).

Chris Lawrence, who has endured an injury-plagued campaign, has woken up and now has points in three of his past four games. Justin Keller has points in his past 11 home games, but his streak of consecutive games with a goal at home ended at six on Wednesday.

The first 2,500 fans tonight will receive an Admirals team poster.
