Clinton to campaign for McAuliffe
Former U.S. President Bill Clinton is scheduled to make campaign stops in Virginia next week with Democratic gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe.
Details are still being worked out, but McAuliffe's campaign this morning confirmed that the former president is tentatively slated to appear in Richmond and Roanoke on April 27 alongside McAuliffe.
A former chairman of the Democratic National Committee, McAuliffe is a longtime ally of the Clinton family who last year served as chairman of Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign.
Bill Clinton is one of several high profile donors -- he gave $10,000 this year, according to the Virginia Public Access Project -- who have contributed to McAuliffe's campaign, which so far has raised more money than the two Democrats and the Republican also running for governor.
As Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton is barred by federal law from campaigning for McAuliffe or any other candidate.
