Concert news: Kevin Costner, India.Arie

Kevin Costner is coming to the NorVa May 9th. Hey, easy with the jokes! Actors who transition to singing, versus the other way around, always get a bad rap. (Surely I'm not the only one petitioning President Obama to forbid Will Smith from recording ever again.) But Costner's music isn't bad; it's sort of countryish, rockish, Americana. Very "Field of Dreams." It says he's bringing a special guest, which we can hope is another Hollywood star turned musician? In that case, I cast my vote for, in order of importance, Juliette Lewis and her band; Johnny Depp and his band and then Joaquin Pheonix, just so I'd have something to blog about the next day.

Also, on the 8th, soul singer India.Arie is coming to Portsmouth. (OK, Willett Hall, I see you, recruiting A-list names!) I live for India, her "I live inside this tree" crunch swag and all. She makes beautiful music, and she's trying to raise the collective consciousness of the world by singing about peace and love and hope. I'm not mad at it! Light some incense while I unroll my yoga mat.

Namaste and have a nice day momufukus!
