Hampton police filed charges Saturday against two people in connection with what police said are gambling operations.

Late Friday night and early Saturday morning, the police raided the strip mall businesses and confiscated suspected video gambling machines and cash, said Cpl. Allison Quiñones, a police spokeswoman.

They also took the names of customers gambling at Movie Play on North King Street and Internet Time and Hampton Roads Billiard, both on Pembroke Avenue, she said.

The police have been investigating the businesses since early March, when they received complaints from citizens, she said.

Yvonne Worth, 45, of the 600 block of Big Bethel Road in Hampton, was charged with one count accessory to gambling, police said. Randy Allen Dillon, 52, of the first block of Wallace Road, Hampton, was charged with one count of conducting an illegal gambling operation.

Police said more charges are pending.

The raids’ goal was to catch the proprietors, but those caught gambling can also be charged with a Class 3 misdemeanor, which results in a court summons, Quiñones said.
