Lawmakers, including Nye, back after visit to Afghanistan

Rep. Mike Michaud of Maine is back on U.S. soil after leading a bipartisan fact-finding delegation to Afghanistan.

Michaud, chairman of the House Veterans Affairs' subcommittee on health, and four colleagues visited Bagram Hospital in Afghanistan, two outposts near the Afghanistan-Pakistan border and the U.S. Embassy in Kabul. They also paid a visit to a hospital in Kuwait and Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany.

Joining Michaud were the surgeons general of the Army and Navy and four committee members: Thomas Perriello, D-Va., Deborah Halvorson, D-Ill., Glen Nye, D-Va., and Phil Roe, R-Tenn. The group returned from the trip last weekend.
