Local show wins N.Y. fest honors

Posted to: Entertainment TV

The New York International Independent Film and Video Festival has awarded three honors to a Hampton Roads production.

“Tanners Point” – part reality TV, part sitcom and part marketing tool – was named best reality show, best ensemble cast and best soundtrack. What’s more, the series, produced by Rex Motion Media of Virginia Beach, is being picked up by ITN Distribution for presentation at the Cannes Film Market.

ITN, a Las Vegas-based distributor of independent productions, will use the Cannes festival to promote theatrical, television and cable distribution of the series.

“Tanners Point” follows Sundays Blue Box Tanning Resort Owner Dennis Ligon through his daily trials and triumphs. It airs at 10 p.m. Sundays and 7:30 p.m. Mondays and Fridays on Cox cable Channel 11.
