NORFOLK

Police are investigating a home invasion robbery Wednesday night in the 1800 block of Meadow Lake Drive.

Some time before 11 p.m., four men knocked on the door of the home, forced their way inside and demanded money from three people inside, said Chris Amos, police spokesman.

At least one of the men had a gun, Amos said. A police report did not say whether the men took any cash, but they did steal a 2007 black Ford Explorer.

The report did not have specific descriptions of the intruders, Amos said.

It was the third home invasion robbery this week, authorities said.

On Monday, a woman was attacked and robbed in her Cape View Avenue home, police said. Early Wednesday morning, police arrested Brian Jordan, 29, and charged him with robbery and malicious wounding.

Early Tuesday morning, an elderly husband and wife were found beaten in their home on Sunset Drive, police said. The couple remained in critical condition in a hospital Wednesday.

No charges have been filed in that case, police said.

Anyone with information can call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.

don's right!

Give those gun haters "Gun free zone" signs to post in their yards! I've got a "Kimber" sticker in the back window of my truck and an "NRA" sticker on the bumper. That should be enought warning to a would be car jacker that if they atttempt to rob me I will no hesitate to take a step necessary to make sure that person will never rob anybody again.

Political Correctness.

Not the full story

Wonder how many other "attempted" crimes have taken place in Norfolk
but the Powers-That-Be won't permit them to be made known (more bad publicity for the city)?
I also live in Bayview and had what I'm convinced was an attempted invasion a few months back but either the perps couldn't muster enough to finish busting thru the door or maybe they saw thru the window me and my large caliber "pit bull" round the corner; but since they didn't finish the job the police made it clear they weren't calling it anything but "possibly some kids pulling a prank" or some other plausible but not very likely scenario.
Not knocking NPD here - I know they get their marching orders from City Hall - but treating "near misses" like this is not being responsible to our citizens. Had this been classified as what it was
(probable attempted home invasion) perhaps some or all of these recent victims might have been forewarned enough to have taken steps to prevent the awful crimes that occured to them.

Oh, for the "good old days!"

Remember when burglars had the decency to wait for you to leave your home before breaking in ... or at least did it in the quiet of the night? Sheesh! And remember when car thieves stole cars at night left in secluded areas? Now they walk right up to you in broad dayight WHILE YOU'RE IN THE CAR and take it from you! What has become of thieves these days? Chumps! They couldn't hold the crowbar of those guys from years ago!

Proud Native, I don't think we have to go that far.

Why don't we just give the gun haters decals that they can put on their front door, and on their cars.

The decals would say: "gun-free zone!"

Then watch the reaction.

This comment is awaiting staff approval.

This constant stream of home invasions throughout Hampton Roads is proof that honest citizens need to be disarmed. Then, maybe the home invaders will have mercy on us and not shoot us, since they know we're not armed. Only then can we live in liberal paradise, like they have for the past thirty years in Washington, D.C.

No description?

The police report did not have a description of the suspects? Why not?

Takes a real man to beat up

Takes a real man to beat up and rob women and old people.

They are welcome to invade

They are welcome to invade my home. I would solve the problem quickly.

For those against fire arm ownership remember this

" The police, when seconds count they are only minutes away "

Not surprising

Just another day in Norfolk. Home invastions, people getting shot or stabbed, and multiple problems with bars/restaurants. Either people don't know, don't show, or just don't care about what's going on in Norfolk.

Those clowns who run this city need to go. I've never seen a more incompetent group. They should have marched out of the city with elephants and other animals in town for the circus.

And *STILL* Ryan Frederick

And *STILL* Ryan Frederick is in jail.

wonder if this....

is some gang initiation thing going on...

quit being innocent lambs

...lead to the slaughter by these morons. At 11 o'clock at night osmeone comes knocking at the door you KNOW isn't supposed to be there, answer the door packing heat or better yet don't be the fool to answer. If they say they're police call 911. Look out the window, take all the steps you would tell a child to take before opening the door.

Pretend it's 1876 and you live in a cabin out in the wild west somewhere like they used to. Protect yourself and be wary of everything out of the ususla. Not much difference today than it was then.

Said they were police officers...

The penalty for posing as a police officer needs to be WAY more severe. All the police departments should take up the fight to see that the penalties reflect the seriousness of this crime. I'm thinking automatic life with no possibility of parole for everyone involved.
