Orioles' Mora and Hill to rehab with the Tides

Posted to: Sports Tides

Melvin Mora will return to Norfolk for the first time since 2000. Mora, a former prospect in the New York Mets organization, is scheduled to make a rehabilitation assignment today. Mora is recuperating from a left hamstring strain he suffered earlier this month while playing for Baltimore.

Mora, who was batting .313 with the Orioles, has played 101 games with the Tides over three seasons, including 82 in 1999.

He will be joined by pitcher Rich Hill on Wednesday. Hill, an oft-injured southpaw who didn't appear in any spring training games because of a strained left elbow, is scheduled to throw 60-65 pitches for the Tides.

Hill was acquired in the offseason from the Chicago Cubs. Last year, he spent most of the season in the minors after injuring his back.

In 2007, he was 11-8 with a 3.92 ERA for Chicago.
