Police identify man killed in fatal wreck in Chesapeake

CHESAPEAKE

Police have identified a man who was killed Tuesday afternoon when his car collided with a tanker truck on Battlefield Boulevard.

Michael Andrew McVay, 45, of the 100 block of Etheridge Lane in Shawboro, N.C., was headed south in the 3000 block of Battlefield Boulevard just before 3 p.m. when he crossed into the northbound lane and broadsided an 18-wheel tanker truck, according to a news release from the Chesapeake Police Department.

McVay died at the scene. The truck driver was not injured.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
