Posted to: News Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH

The Virginia Beach Central Library will be officially renamed the Meyera E. Oberndorf Central Library on Wednesday, in tribute to the longest-serving mayor in the city's history.

Oberndorf, who began her public service career with the Public Library Board in 1966, served for two decades as mayor before being defeated by Will Sessoms last year.

Sessoms and Oberndorf will be on hand for the ceremony, which will take place at 10:30 a.m. inside the library at 4100 Virginia Beach Blvd. - Paul White
