Va. lawyer ordered to pay 4 estates more than $4 million

Posted to: News Western Tidewater

FRANKLIN

A published report says a longtime Franklin attorney who was ordered to pay more than $4 million to four estates has surrendered his law license.

Virginia Lawyers Weekly reports that Southampton County Circuit Court Designate William C. Andrews III entered the judgments last month against Edward Moyler Jr.

The newspaper said Moyler acknowledged during the hearing that he took the money from four estates for which he was the executor.

The Virginia State Bar moved to revoke Moyler's law license after learning of his admissions. The newspaper said Moyler consented to a revocation order that was entered Monday.

Moyler has practiced law for more than 50 years.

Lawyers/attorneys

I couldn't agree more w/ the two previous comments. In the last 4 yrs, due to a nasty extended divorce & custody fight, the lawyers I have had the misfortune to run into have been greedy bloodsuckers. They abuse the privilege of being officers of the court by overstepping their boundaries & pretending to expertise that they do not have. I am especially appalled that those who decide to hang out their shingles as "guardians ad litem", those who are SUPPOSED to protect the young, elderly & disabled, are generally drawn from the ranks of those who can't support themselves practicing legitimate law, who have numerous legitimate complaints against them, who have repeatedly had their licenses revoked by the bar, but yet are crazily in the positions of dictating the lives & futures of the helpless. It's shameless. The world of the judicial system creates an alternate universe in which normal logic, the truth, and justice are simply meaningless words, and some sort of game is being played that manipulates the "clients" and lines the pockets of the court personnel.

And just think...

We have elected so many of them in to our government that they (lawyers) occupy over 60% of Congress and Senate. Do you really trust them? Worst, it seems what should have been a government of "CITIZEN POLITICIANS) is now over run with "professional politicians".

Tip of Iceberg

I think this lawyer is not alone. Many like him have an overinflated sense of entitlement and greed which causes them to exploit unsuspecting common people many times within the "law" but some times outside. I see little nobility in their ranks.
