#2 Cox 7, #1 First Colonial 2

The Falcons thumped the Patriots in a battle of Beach District unbeatens.

Erica Ridlon’s 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles and Sally Goode’s 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 2 were keys for the Falcons, who swept the doubles. Jenny Lee and Faith Atiso set the doubles tone with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph at No. 1.

Cox (8-1, 8-0), which has two Beach matches remaining, lost a non-district match to W.T. Woodson. The Falcons haven’t lost a Beach match since 2002.
