NORFOLK

A $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest of the person who shot and killed a Navy lieutenant as he strolled along a Norfolk street with his fiancee last year.

The reward includes $1,000 from Norfolk Crime Line with the balance being offered by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, according to Norfolk police.

Navy Lt. Todd Michael Cox, 40, was walking about 8:10 p.m. in the 100 block of Beverly Ave. on April 24, 2008, with his fiancée, his daughter and her daughter when a man pulled up in a truck alongside them.

Cox pushed his fiancée out of the way before the man got out of the truck, approached Cox and shot him, police said. The girls hid behind a tree.

The man was driving a Ford F-150 that appeared to be a model from the 1990s, police said. It was white with turquoise in the middle. The man was described as black, 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall with a medium build and short hair. He was wearing a light shirt and blue jeans.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
