Outer Banks woman in hospital after stabbing

For the second time in less than a week, an Outer Banks woman has been found stabbed in the stomach.

Kathy Johnson Montague, whose age was not available, was found Saturday lying on her stomach in the front yard of her Mill Landing Road home in Wanchese, according to a news release from the Dare County Sheriff's Office on Monday.

She had been stabbed in the stomach several times, and police found a knife under her, the statement said. She was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where she was in critical condition Monday night.

Her husband, Lance L. Montague Sr., 49, was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. He was being held under $1 million bond in a Raleigh correctional facility.

On May 11, police found a woman in Buxton who had been stabbed. A man who had violated a domestic protective order was arrested inside the home, police said.
