CHESAPEAKE
Chili’s Grill & Bar will soon occupy a corner spot in the Great Bridge Shopping Center.
The popular chain restaurant is expected to open July 23 in the shopping center at the corner of Battlefield Boulevard and Cedar Road. Workers in March began extensive remodeling at the 7,647 square-foot space, which used to house a Movie Gallery.
“My guess is that they’re going to do phenomenally well at that location,” said Dave Boyles, property manager with Stanton Partners, Inc., which manages the shopping center.
There are not a ton of Chili’s restaurants in the South Hampton Roads area. There is one at MacArthur Center in Norfolk, a couple in Virginia Beach, and one at Chesapeake Square.
The guy who did the Chili’s deal said he liked the location because Great Bridge really didn’t have a true sit-down, chain restaurant. He said the Chili’s will have a “really cool bar” inside and an outdoor patio.
“We felt it was kind of central,” said Marvin Golbois, director of development for Pepper Dining, the franchisee for Chili’s in this area. “The shopping center seems to be the hub of activity. It’s kind of a great crossroads.”

there's a new melting pot in huntsville, in the bridge street shopping deals center, for those of us in north alabama!
Chili's
Good luck in finding a place to park ... tough to do in that small parking lot.
News!
News!
Look up Chili's and it is
Look up Chili's and it is one of the worst in terms of Cholesterol, Saturated Fat,Sodium content and overall unhealthy food. Yea, it tastes good, but it packs a punch!
Great
Chili's is the most value-oriented, affordable of the like-minded chains. And the food is very good!
Poor Planning
I welcome the resturant to GB, but as a person who lives in the heart of GB, I have to say what were they thinking. The shopping center currently has a hard time supporting the traffic that comes through it. On most days, we find the light at the corner of Cedar and Battlefield has caused a backup to the Hancock Fabric or Dollartree. Chili's really did not research that location enough. The parking lot is not large enough to support that type of business. Summertime at 5pm, we are currently blocking the intersection in and out of the shopping center and to place the resturant at the end, will not only conflict but will also increase the current traffic problem. Did they look at the sign posted at the enterence $500 fine for blocking the intersection. Again I love that Chili's is coming to the area, but in the larger picture it was a very poor location choice.
Chilli's
I frequent this shopping center at least 3 to 5 times a week. Sometimes you can spend 20 minutes trying to get out of the parking lot. Where are these customers suppose to park? Like I previously said, the parking lot is extremely busy and there is not a lot of parking...so what's going to happen when this resturant comes to this shopping center?
Chilis in GB? Parking?
I dread popping in that shopping center NOW to run in and grab a card/gift, a pizza, or a quick trip into the $ store, because parking is minimal at this particular shopping center. Where do they think Chili patrons are going to park?
Ann's Hallmark, Little Ceasar's Pizza, and The Dollar Tree can kiss my business goodbye when Chili's opens - I would rather drive a few miles down the road and shop elsewhere than to spend the same amount of time in my car, circling the parking lot, looking for a parking space.

I just love.....
.....backhanded comments like the first one posted.
I'm sure Chilis is glad this person doesn't eat there either.
I wish them luck. I think
I wish them luck. I think their food is terrible & the atmosphere is worse, so we don't eat there. Chain restaurants - yuck!
