KILL DEVIL HILLS, N.C.

A fire this afternoon damaged several units in the Days Inn & Suites Mariner, a news release from the town’s fire department said.

Firefighters were called to the hotel shortly after 3 p.m. and found smoke coming from the second-floor. The fire was “well-advanced,” and additional units from Colington, Nags Head, Kitty Hawk and Southern Shores were called in to assist, the release said.

The fire damage extended into several units and the attic space of the hotel, the release said. There also was smoke and water damage that extended beyond those rooms.

The fire is considered to be accidental, but the cause of the fire was not released.

There were no injuries reported and investigators were still working at the scene at 6 p.m.
