Guns = $$ at GOP convention
The Virginia Republican Party spent thousands of dollars on extra security to accomodate the desires of some guns owners to carry their weapons at the annual GOP convention in Richmond this weekend.
One party official estimated that additional security costs approached $35,000.
A strict interpretation of the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution, which spells out the right to keep and bear arms, is a key tenet of the Republican Party.
