Harbor Park to host annual prosthetic limb drive

Posted to: Health News Norfolk

NORFOLK

A drive to collect prosthetic limbs and braces for amputees in developing countries will be conducted Sunday from noon to 2:30 p.m. at Harbor Park.

Anyone who donates a prosthetic limb, brace or money to the seventh annual Limb Drive will receive two complimentary tickets to the Norfolk Tides baseball game that afternoon, and a two-for-one ticket to Nauticus, while supplies last. The drive is sponsored by Physicians for Peace, Nauticus and AT Home Care, Inc.

The Limb Drive will benefit the Walking Free program, which was created by Physicians for Peace, a nonprofit, medical-education organization, and David A. Lawrence, a physical therapist with AT Home Care, a home health care agency in Virginia. The equipment will be used in developing countries such as the Dominican Republic, Turkey, Guatemala, Haiti and Jordan.
