New on comments: Hide and show

A few readers of PilotOnline.com and HamptonRoads.com have told us in the past that they'd rather not see other users' comments on the end of stories and blog entries. Their wish has been granted.

You now have the option of hiding all comments on stories from your view. At the end of each story, you’ll see:

[-] Hide Comments

Click it to make comments disappear on that story and all others. You can click it again anytime to make comments reappear.

Also new: A count of the number of comments, if available, appears at the top of each story, below the headline. Clicking that number will take you to the start of the comments.

And don’t forget our recently added features: threaded comments and comment-viewing options.

Note: Your preferences are recorded by a "cookie" on your computer. Your options will remain the way you set them, through multiple visits, unless you clear your Web browser's cookies, switch to another browser, or use another computer.

Questions? Comments? Opinions? Post them in the comments here.
