Peak follows in brother's footsteps to Blacksburg

There is a new tandem to add to Virginia Tech's growing list of football legacies.

Tahrick Peak, the leading tackler for Pulaski County last fall as a junior, said Friday he'll join his older brother at Tech in 2010. Nubian Peak, the leading rusher for the Cougars, signed with the Hokies in February.

"My brother being recruited brought a lot of exposure to me," said Tahrick Peak, who said he had scholarship offers from Maryland and Marshall. "It panned out pretty well."

He said he's had the Tech offer since March 20.

"As soon as I got it, I wanted to commit," he said, "but I took a couple of weeks and talked it over with my parents."

Peak, a 6-3, 205-pounder, was recruited as an inside linebacker. He had more than 100 tackles, solo and assisted, for the Cougars (12-1). He said he runs 40 yards in 4.45 seconds.

He's 1 of 4 players to commit to Tech for 2010.
