Portsmouth police offer free trigger locks

Posted to: News Portsmouth

The Police Department will issue about 500 free firearm locks beginning today on a first-come, first-served basis.

They are provided by the National Shooting Sports Foundation through a grant from the Department of Justice. The program is designed

to ensure safe and responsible firearm ownership and storage and to teach children about firearm safety.

The gunlocks are available at several downtown police offices on weekdays during business hours.

In addition, they're available anytime at the Police Operation Support Center, at 711 Crawford St.
