Subject: Cindy Cave Resignation
All,
It has been my pleasure to serve you on the EDA and I regret that I did not have time to say "good bye". It appears that some of you have been contacted by the press as they search for comments and the real facts.
The facts are:
1) Deputy City Manager (DCM) & Human Resources Director visited my office on May 21 at 3:15pm;
2) DCM stated that "this is not a good fit";
3) DCM cited the following issues...
He took offense when I passed along negative feedback to him from disgruntled business/property owners trying to navigate through the City's development process. (I explained that our customers are doing us the favor by consistently pointing out opportunities for improvement);and
He accused me of using the budget process to downsize/demote staff. (I offered the mandated 10% decrease from FY09, but the ED budget was cut to the City's lowest of 37% by the administration.); and
He blamed me for the lease between Sparta & ProLogis not being signed & ready to go. (With all due respect, this is a matter between those two business entities. If the Sparta deal falls through, it will not be because of me, but rather due to the economy).
4) DCM offered no performance concerns about any issues the entire 6+ months of my employment;
5) DCM said that I had two choices: to resign or be terminated...either of which would result in May 21 being my last day of employment.
No one wants to be employed where they are not wanted and appreciated. So I chose to resign! I will you all the best, personally & professionally!
Regards,
Cindy Cave
