Gathright, who was acquired from the Chicago Cubs, was activated before the game. He is taking the roster spot of infielder Mike Costanzo, who has been assigned to Double-A Bowie.

The Tides and Chiefs will square off again at 7 tonight. David Pauley (2-3, 4.85) is slated to get the start for Norfolk.
