Chris Tillman struck out 10 in six shutout innings of the Norfolk Tides' 9-1 win over the Syracuse Chiefs on Tuesday night at Alliance Bank Stadium.
Tillman (4-0) allowed five hits and two walks.
His 10 strikeouts were a Tides season-high, and he lowered his ERA to 2.03.
Tillman received plenty of run support, as the Tides pounded out 16 hits.
Nolan Reimold led the Tides' offense with three hits, the first of which was a two-run home run in the second inning, his team-leading ninth of the season.
Reimold also added two doubles to up his International League-leading average to .396.
Oscar Salazar and Robby Hammock each added three hits apiece, while Justin Turner had two hits and two RBIs.
Outfielder Joey Gathright, making his Norfolk debut after being acquired in a trade on May 8, finished 2 for 5 with a run scored and an RBI.
Gathright, who was acquired from the Chicago Cubs, was activated before the game. He is taking the roster spot of infielder Mike Costanzo, who has been assigned to Double-A Bowie.
The Tides and Chiefs will square off again at 7 tonight. David Pauley (2-3, 4.85) is slated to get the start for Norfolk.
