Bulk refuse fees to begin in Suffolk

Posted to: News Suffolk

Bulk refuse collection fees will begin in Suffolk next week, according to the city.

Residents who want special bulk collection of refuse will pay a fee for the service as of July 1, a city news release says. The fees will range from $20 to $50, depending on the amount of refuse to be collected. Evictions will cost $100.

Residents who need collection can call (757) 514-7630.

The fee must be paid 48 hours before regular collection days to have the refuse collected on those days, the release says. Residents can pay the fees at the City Treasurer’s offices or by phone by calling (757) 514-4275. Payments also can be mailed to the treasurer's office.

waa--waa--waa--suffolk cry babies

If you Suffolk babies didnt cry everytime the thought of raising taxes by two or three cents, then you wouldn't have to pay these fees now. Everything costs more, so it is only natural for the 'company' that does performs the service passes the increased fees onto the consumer. Times are tight, budgets are slim... just burn the sofa, it makes for good news footage.

what a HUGE inconvenience...

to have to go to the office and pay before pickup or pay by phone -- which just MIGHT charge you an additional fee for using pay-by-phone. Chesapeake does. What else are we going to be charged with?? To heck with paying (ahead of time) for bulk pickup. Just chuck it all out on the side of the interstate somewhere or dump it in a neighbor's yard when they're sleeping!
