Officials evacuated the TownePlace Suites at 2000 Old Greenbrier Road this morning because of a car fire close to the building, according to the Fire Department.

About 10:30 a.m., the Fire Department received a report of a car fire at the hotel, Capt. Sam Gulisano, a spokesman for the department, said in an e-mail.

The car was very close to the building, so officials decided to evacuate the hotel, he said. The blaze melted some of the building’s siding but did not cause any other structural damage, he said.

There were no injuries, and firefighters extinguished the blaze and cleared the scene within an hour, Gulisano said.
