Hottest temperatures all year expected today

Posted to: News Weather

It looks like the hottest temperatures in several weeks are set to move in today.

In fact today should be about as hot as we have seen this spring. You can expect high temperatures to range from the lower 90s near the coast to as hot as the mid to upper 90s for areas that are well inland.

Most of us should be in the mid 90s but the humidity will make it feel a bit hotter than the actual air temperature.

There is also a chance of a thunderstorm late in the day as a weak cold front moves in and drops readings a bit for Sunday.

Today's rip current risk is low; the surfing forecast calls for 2- to 3-foot waves. Tomorrow, a small craft advisory is in effect from morning until late Sunday night.  Air quality today in Hampton Roads is moderate to good, the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality says.

Standby for program interruptions

Yup...Wavy 10, WTKR, and WVTC will be interrupting your TV programming just so they can compete against each other! Last night Wavy 10 cut off the last 10 minutes of I'm a Celebrity (most crucial part of the series) to tell us what they've been telling us all night! I guess they think we're illiterate and we can't read the junk they've been scrolling all evening at the bottom of the screen...good job Wavy 10...I turned you off and went to other channels that DON'T PRE-EMPT scheduled programming.
Standby, it will happen again tonight...
