Jury recommends 53 years for man guilty of murder

NORFOLK

A jury convicted Maurice A. Baker on Thursday of murder and a weapon charge and recommended he serve 53 years in prison.

Baker, 27, was charged in the January 2008 shooting death of Timothy G. Yates in a parking lot of the Church Square Shopping Center. Baker is scheduled to be sentenced in August.
