The Navy has identified the sailor who died aboard the carrier Dwight D. Eisenhower Saturday.

Command Master Chief Jeffrey J. Garber, 43, of Hemingford, Nebraska, was discovered unresponsive in a berthing area about 8:15 a.m. local time Saturday, Navy Cmdr. Jane Campbell said. Attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.

Additional tests are pending to verify initial indications that the death was from natural causes, Campbell said.

The Norfolk-based Eisenhower is deployed in the North Arabian Sea.
