Norfolk special parking rates offered for holiday

Posted to: News Norfolk

The city will offer special holiday parking rates at its downtown garages and MacArthur Center.

Starting Friday, city garages will charge $5 to park from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. MacArthur Center parking will cost $2 from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Officials recommend arriving early for downtown events. Harborfest will run Friday through Sunday, and the Norfolk Tides are expecting a sellout game at 6:15 p.m. Friday with fireworks to follow.

Overflow Tides traffic will be directed to nearby lots. City officials recommend parking at MacArthur Center and walking to Harbor Park, or catching a free ride on the NET shuttle in front of the mall.

Schedules for the NET and for the Paddlewheel Ferry can be viewed at www.gohrt.com.
