Pair of runs hands Norfolk Tides 4-2 victory over Pawtucket

NORFOLK

The Norfolk Tides rediscovered the secret of success: timely hitting and strong pitching.

Jolbert Cabrera hit a home run, Brandon Snyder smacked a two-run double and four Norfolk pitchers limited Pawtucket to a pair of runs in the Tides' 4-2 victory on Wednesday.

Yet it was action taking place beyond Harbor Park that could affect the Tides' future more than the team's victory. Starter David Hernandez left the game after the fourth inning despite not allowing a hit. Hernandez may be on his way back to Baltimore after it was announced that Koji Uehara has lingering pain in his right elbow.

"It was a precautionary thing," Hernandez said. "They may need a starter on Sunday."

Meanwhile, the Tides may soon be welcoming a new infielder. The Orioles acquired Indians farmhand Michael Aubrey for a player to be named later and immediately declared the first baseman would be sent to Norfolk.

"He can hit for average and give you some power," Tides manager Gary Allen-son said.

In 57 games this season with Triple-A Columbus, Aubrey, 27, batted .292 with five home runs and 29 RBIs.
