Sailor found dead aboard carrier Eisenhower

Posted to: Military

A sailor aboard the carrier Dwight D. Eisenhower apparently died Saturday of natural causes, a Navy spokeswoman said.

The sailor’s identity was being withheld pending notification of family, Navy Cmdr. Jane Campbell said. The sailor was discovered unresponsive in a berthing area about 8:15 a.m. local time Saturday, Campbell said. Attempts to resuscitate the sailor were unsuccessful, she said. Additional tests were pending to verify initial indications that the death was from natural causes, Campbell said.

The Norfolk-based Eisenhower is deployed in the Arabian Sea.
