Severe thunderstorm warning issued for northeastern N.C.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for northeastern North Carolina until 7 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

At 6:10 p.m. the Weather Service radar indicated a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing penny-sized hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. The storms were located along a line extending from 8 miles west of Morgan’s Corner in Pasquotank County to Camden County and moving northeast at 10 mph.

Severe thunderstorms will be near South Mills by 6:45 p.m. and Moyock by 7 p.m.

Scattered thunderstorms were predicted for all of south Hampton Roads and northeastern North Carolina throughout the night.
