CHESAPEAKE

Police have charged a 16-year-old with failing to yield in connection with a May 30 crash that killed a 49-year-old woman riding a motor scooter.

The teen’s name is being withheld by police because he is a juvenile, a news release says.

Natalie Turner Staff, of the 300 block of Lancing Way, was hit by a Hummer at the intersection of Cedar Road and Cedar Lakes Drive. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Police said the driver of the Hummer, who was not injured, turned left on Cedar Road from Cedar Lakes Drive and hit the scooter, which was heading east on Cedar Road.
