Tides' series finale washed out

Posted to: Sports Tides

NORFOLK

A wave of thunderstorms Friday washed out a Norfolk Tides' home game for the fifth time this season, and just like that, the Tides lost their first series since dropping three games at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in April and early May.

The Tides were scheduled to play Buffalo for the final time this season, but intermittent patches of rain punctuated by one extended downpour prevented the teams from taking the field. The Bisons had won two out of three games, and the Tides were looking for a split. Friday's game will not be made up.

Entering Friday, Norfolk was 35-18 and 1-1/2 games ahead of Durham in the International League South.
