One of two men shot on Gilmerton Road in Chesapeake dies

CHESAPEAKE

One of two men shot on Gilmerton Road last night has died, police said. 

Officers were called about 10:22 p.m. to the 2500 block of Gilmerton Road where they found two men suffering gunshot wounds, said Dorienne Boykin, police spokeswoman.

The two men were taken to a hospital with wounds that weren’t thought to be life-threatening, Boykin said.

About 3 a.m., Darius Taylor, 23, died from his injuries, according to Boykin. Taylor lived in the 2500 block of Gilmerton.

Police have only vague descriptions of the gunmen, Boykin said. The motive for the shootings is unclear.

The investigation is continuing.
