The U.S. Postal Service will deliver mail as usual on Friday, but most post offices will close by noon that day in observance of the holiday, according to the service’s Web site.
Most collection times will be moved to noon and customers who need retail or collection after that time should contact the postmaster, the site says.
All post offices will be closed on Saturday and there will be no regular mail delivery, according to the Postal Service. Regular delivery, retail services and collections will resume on Monday.
Sunday and Holiday Premium Express mail will be delivered during the weekend.

I Can't Get My Mail There On Time As It Is !!!
July 4th is Saturday, not Friday, Saturday. The rest of the working world has to finish their work day before they can get in the car to go out of town or stay up to finish their picnic preparations...I already can't get my overnight Express mail to make it in 5 days, can't get the local office to answer their phones and have to be in line 30 minutes before 5 or be refused entry & service. I also have to close my doors & leave work & lose business before 4:30 in order to get our mailings out instead of going after work since they started closing at 5pm. So now, we lose another day & a half ? How about allowing workers the choice to stay. The pathetic customer service & lack of consistant knowledge throughout the Postal Service has been appallling & now we get even less service, if possible, for more money...time for a new Postal Service.
we can only hope
another silly govamint sponsored monopoly that provides very little for our dollars. It's dying a slow death....
Thats a joke!
Has anyone been to a local post office lately??? Seems that me that they are ALWAYS on vacation!...
ARE THE TAX PAYERS PAYING FOR THAT
I wonder if that half day Friday off is paid and if so who paid for it. Mabe we should not have let them have that last stamp price hike.
The whole point of closing
The whole point of closing early is to not have to pay counter clerks for the additional 5 hours. 5 hours, 3 clerks... that's 15 hours they're saving. They're assuming everyone is skipping town and won't be at the post office.
