VIRGINIA BEACH

The identity of a man killed early Friday in a single-vehicle car crash was released today by police.

Michael Leigh Mills, 43, of the 1700 block of Unicorn Drive in Virginia Beach, was pronounced dead at the scene in the 1500 block of Bold Ruler Drive, police spokesman Adam Bernstein said. Mills had been driving a Ford Contour north shortly before 2 a.m. when he lost control in an S-curve, Bernstein said.

The car rolled several times, and Mills, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the vehicle. Investigators said alcohol and speed contributed to the crash, Bernstein said.
