College of William and Mary Provost P. Geoffrey Feiss is retiring next week after more than a decade there as a senior administrator.

The 66-year-old Feiss plans to move to Fort Collins, Colo., into a cabin he built with his wife.

Feiss started at William and Mary in 1997 as dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. He was named provost in 2003, serving as the school's chief academic and budget officer. Before coming to Williamsburg, he was senior associate dean for budgets and planning at the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of North Carolina.

The retirement was announced last September.

Michael R. Halleran, a dean at the University of Miami, was selected in March to replace Feiss.
