A reorganization of the Thomas Jefferson Foundation has resulted in three full-time workers at Monticello being laid off and another being offered part-time work.

Monticello spokesman Wayne Mogielnicki would not say which positions were eliminated Wednesday at the nonprofit, but said they were from three different departments. He said employees would learn more about the restructuring on Thursday.

Foundation president Leslie Greene Bowman said despite the recession the organization would not be putting its efforts on hold to protect Jefferson's home. He said stewardship of the World Heritage site is the foundation's first priority.
