VIRGINIA BEACH
Police arrested three people early this morning when they spotted two of them standing outside a 7-Eleven convenience store putting masks over their faces, a police news release said.
At about 1 a.m., a police officer saw a vehicle that matched a description given in a prior robbery traveling west on Bonney Road.
Virginia Beach police had previously established a patrol in the area because there had been several armed robberies of 7-Eleven convenience stores in June that were possibly related, the news release said.
A robbery detective went to the nearby 7-Eleven store and saw two men standing on the side of the building putting masks over their faces. When ordered to stop, one fled on foot and the other was taken into custody without incident, the news release said. Police found the vehicle, stopped it in the 3700 block of Bonney Road, and the two people inside were arrested.
Quinton Everett Williams, 18, of Chesapeake, Davon Latik Williams, 19, of Virginia Beach, and a 16-year-old male were each charged with attempted armed robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and conspiracy to commit a felony.
Additional charges could be filed against the three as the investigation continues.
The two adults were being held at the Virginia Beach Correctional Center without bond, and the 16-year-old was being held in the Virginia Beach Juvenile Detention Center.
