Police are still looking for a suspect who they believe committed a string of armed robberies this month in Virginia Beach, Norfolk and Chesapeake.

They have warrants charging David Ray Smith, 27, with four counts of robbery and four counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony, police said. He is considered armed and dangerous, according to police.

Police released Smith’s name Wednesday. He last lived in the 900 block of Delaware Ave. and is described as white, 6 feet tall, 170 pounds, with blue eyes and short, brown hair, according to police. He may be driving a red 1984 Chevy S-10 pickup.

Smith is wanted in connection with at least four robberies in Virginia Beach – at the Walgreens on Wesleyan Drive on Sunday, a Pizza Hut in the 1800 block of Kempsville Road on July 16, and a Zero’s in the 6500 block of Auburn Drive on July 8 and July 20. Further charges are pending for other robberies, police said.

Police asked that anyone with information about Smith’s whereabouts call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP (562-5887). They are offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.
